Preparations:

Wash green chilies and finely chop them. Similarly wash and pat dry the curry leaves and finely chop them. Take pressed rice into a wide bowl and add water. Wash the pressed rice and again add water. Soak the pressed rice for just 30 seconds. Drain into a colander and remove all the water from the pressed rice.

Method:

Heat a pan and add oil to it. When oil is hot add peanuts and fry stirring on low flame till they crackle. Remove the fried peanuts from oil and place them in a plate. In the remaining oil add Bengal gram, fenugreek seeds and black gram. Fry the seeds till they start changing color. Then add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Fry the seasoning till the seeds splutter. Then add chopped curry leaves and finely chopped green chilies. Fry the seasoning for a while so that the green chilies get fried well in order to remove the hotness from them. Then add turmeric powder to the seasoning and mix well. Now add the soaked pressed rice and salt and mix gently. See that the yellow color of the turmeric powder coats the pressed rice well. Then add the fried peanuts and mix well gently. Now switch off the flame and add required amount of lemon juice and mix. Transfer the prepared Upma into serving plates and serve hot.

Points To Notice:

Use the thicker variety of pressed rice so that it retains the shape for longer period after it is soaked.

Use green chilies and lemon juice as per taste.

Curry leaves may be added whole—in case leaves are bigger then chop them finely and use.

Wash & soak the pressed rice just before seasoning that too just for 30 seconds. Soaking the pressed rice for longer period makes it soggy.

After adding soaked pressed rice to the seasoning, mix gently to avoid breaking.

Prepare this simple and easy yet tasty recipe and serve hot.

Enjoy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
